Made It! Sugar Scrub

The Lotion Bars are slooooowly melting in the crock pot... what to do while waiting?

With the holidays coming and all the extra Whipped Coconut Body Butter and Lotion Bars I have,  maybe I could make some gift baskets, what else should be included in a home spa basket? Sugar Scrub! To polish those rough spots so the Lotion Bar will soak in better. Good idea!

I found some basic recipes at Under The Table And Dreaming, Greenbean's Crafterole and Henry Happened.

Here's what you need:
1 1/2 cup Sugar (brown or white)
1/4 -1/2 cup Oil (any kind you'd like)
Essential Oils (optional)
Body Wash (optional)
Food Coloring (optional)

Mix everything together (I used my food processor) and put in containers that won't leak.

The mixture was a bit too oily for my liking, so I added a few spoonfuls of sugar and a squirt or two of soap. The soap is a nice addition, it's just enough to take away the greasy feeling.

This was so easy to make that I forgot to take pictures. I'll try to get some next time...

  1. Since you put in dish soap, would this be considered a kitchen hand scrub?

  2. I suppose it could be a kitchen hand scrub ;) My skin reacts badly to body washes, so I used what I had on hand (pun intended).
